Audio and Videoconference Coordination

Dial-Up ISDN Videoconferences
AV, in cooperation with Medical Informatics, provides comprehensive support for all ISDN-based videoconferencing within the HSC and SBUH. Users of this technology interact in real time utilizing both audio and video while presenting and sharing data. Rooms available to support this activity include Lecture Hall’s 1, 2, 3, and 6, the OVP conference room, the Medical Informatics conference room, and the Atkin’s Learning Center. Applications include basic face to face business meetings, distance learning, telemedicine, educational conferences, and medical grand rounds. Conferences are transmitted between two or more remote sites.

Satellite Videoconferences
AV coordinates satellite videoconferencing in the Atkin’s Learning Center. User’s must subscribe or register for a scheduled program and provide AV with the necessary technical requirements and satellite coordinates. AV will contact Educational Technologies on main campus to complete arrangements and provide support for this event.

Audioconferences
AV also provides support for meetings or events which require set-up of a full duplex conference phone for audio only interactivity. Aside from the obvious business meeting phone call between groups of people at different geographical locations, this solution provides a cost-effective way for out-of-town staff to participate in departmental meetings. Another possible application would allow groups of people to attend and interact during web-based demonstrations.
AV’s conference phone will operate using either the campus digital ROLM phone line system or the plain old analog phone line system.
